A LETTER TO MY FUTURE BRIDESMAIDS

August 14, 2018

To my girlfriends,

I picked you girls to be my bridesmaids even before I found the man of my dreams. I cannot wait for the day when the mailman brings you the ‘Will you be my bridesmaid?’ goodie box and you call me up with excitement and say ‘Hell yes!’ Well, I hope you feel lucky because not everyone is fortunate enough for this honor.

I can’t wait for you all to plan my spinster party. I hope we don’t end up cancelling it because we all couldn’t agree on one place. Just kidding, I know you will make it a night to remember (or not) for me. About my bachelorette photo shoot, I don’t want anyone to crib about wearing the same colour (chosen by me) and posing the way I ask you to (a lot of planning on Pinterest has been done for this). Don’t forget, I am the bride!

I look forward to the day when I wear my wedding dress and ask ‘So, what do you think?’. I am hoping for a jaw-dropping breathtaking response. Exaggerate all you want about how good the dress is, I certainly won’t mind. Now about the grooming sessions, I am so excited to get my nails, hair and makeup done with you girls while we chit-chat about the wedding. No one can pamper me and make me feel better the way you do.

Some tips: Please keep an eye on the groom’s side and their wedding dance routine. I am sure you will be much better than them, but just in case. I can’t wait to see all of you wearing gorgeous lehengas and dancing on my favourite numbers.

Make sure you nail the “Joota Chupai” tradition and earn the hell lot of money from the groom.

DO NOT lose yourself and blurt out any secret while giving a speech in front of everyone. I know you will understand when you get “the look” from me.

I chose you, girls, because you have been there for me through thick and thin. You know how moody I get and what my mood swings can lead to. I want you to be there for me helping me manage my lehenga and take me to the washroom when I need to pee in the middle of the ceremony. I want you to be there for me reminding me to take the ponytail holder off my wrist. I want you to be there for me calming me down when I am having a nervous breakdown and reassuring me about the man I am about to marry (you know how indecisive I can get on the wedding day). Basically, I want you all to be there for me supporting me on this big day, just like how you have been supporting me throughout my life.

Even though I don’t say this enough, I love you all unconditionally and I am extremely lucky to be blessed with such amazing friends. I know I chose the right people as my bridesmaids and I cannot wait to create some beautiful memories with you all.

Please bear with me when I turn into a bridezilla and I promise to be there for you when you are one.

Lastly,

(goes down on one knee)

Will you be the bridesmaid?
